Cohousing project

Sim-patia's social co-housing project has a highly innovative character due to the point of view it adopts: the idea behind this model is that fragile subjects, often bearers of fragility of a very different nature, can activate a system of mutual and reciprocal help, thus reducing the need for assistance and enhancing everyone's potential.

The Sim-patia model of social co-housing aims to provide an accompaniment service towards autonomy to individuals or families in situations of fragility.

Among these:

  • people who, in consideration of their personal or relational condition, need specific support interventions of a social nature aimed at avoiding improper institutionalization or isolation;

  • families who, due to particular situations of social hardship for one of their members or the whole nucleus, need a welcoming solution to be accompanied on a path of autonomy and social re-inclusion;

  • separated fathers for temporary reception on the basis of a project of economic and social autonomy;

  • individuals with physical disabilities who can find an inclusive housing solution in the co-housing model;

  • trainee students from outside the Region for internships.

Organizational model

The participants in the project enjoy, on favorable terms, their own private space together with the benefit of some shared spaces for common activities, so that the individuality of the residence and respect for personal life are maintained. The signing of a co-responsibility and mutual aid agreement is required, which constitutes the founding element of the initiative.

The lodgings

To date, Sim-patia has managed the project for many sites located on property owned by the Municipality of Grandate, including the Arcade Hotel and Olgiate Comasco.
The cohousing project has aroused a lot of interest, and for this reason, we find ourselves managing various requests and projects.
We invite all municipal bodies interested in starting a project to contact us.

THE SOCIAL ADMINISTRATOR

The Social Administrator ha la responsabilità del governance of the project: from the assessment of the need to the reception, from sharing the co-responsibility agreement to social re-inclusion. Specifically, activities such as housing integration, education in the sharing of spaces and the co-management of services, and sharing paths of social inclusion in the surrounding fabric fall within their competences.

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE AREA

In addition to providing solutions to fragile people, Sim-patia's co-housing is open to young students, who are extended the advantages of cohabitation and the opportunity to carry out part-time activities in support of the most fragile people.

Co-housing can become a significant experience linked to social learning, interpersonal understanding, and experiential knowledge that they have the opportunity to develop in this new situation, which is so different from their common life context, which is typically mono-generational in nature.

The project brings together public bodies, private social entities, families, and citizens to build new responses to well-known needs; it does not replace the public response but is added with a view to economic and operational integration.
